Visas

I have been offered a teaching position in China. I have no degree of TESL qualification. I was told that I would be given training in China and be teaching mainly role playing. I was also told that I need a travel visa to get out there and would be given a working visa once I had been assigned a teaching post.

Is this correct? I would be very grateful for any help on this.

It sound rough but such is sometimes expected; that is the way I came to Japan 20 years ago. Finding a reliable teaching job in China seems to be a dicey business-- some companies are reputable and others are not. Take enough extra cash that you can pay for your stay there and return home in case the working visa does not materialize.
