V_ING AS A NOUN OR A NOUN

Dear everybody,

Grammatical books say that Gerunds (Ving) have function as a noun.

Here is the example from the book:

  • Smoking cigarettes is bad for you.
  • Buying a house is his dream.

I asked some people, They said that the V_ing form in 1st of each below pairs is less formal than the noun in 2nd. And There are no emphasis and no differences on the meaning between them? Is this correct?

And I can use either ways I feel like?

(1)All things done for a pizza creating.

(2)All things done for a pizza creation.

LE HANH 2383(1)The reconstructing of this building is needed

That is not natural English.

LE HANH 2383(2)The reconstruction of this building is needed

That is ok. But the most natural is the passive infinitive of the verb.

This building needs to be reconstructed.
