Views are spreading that ..

Market sources say the yen strengthened against the dollar because the Fed's rate cut was bigger than expected and views are spreading that the US economic slowdown is getting even worse.

Can I say:


 views that the US economic slowdown is getting even worse are spreading


But I think this version is not good.

I agree. The "that" clause is quite long, while the predicate is only two words. By the time we get to the predicate, we've forgotten what the subject was.
