Videophile vs Video File pronunciation

Hello,

As I understand, the terms are pronounced in the same way, 'v?d???f??l . How do I recognize one from the other then in spoken speech?

There may be a slight pause in "video file", but aside from that, all we have is context.

That looks to me like it might be a British pronunciation, though that / ? / doesn't seem right.
Is it supposed to be British?

Here are the American pronunciations (mine, anyway).

"videophile" / 'v ? d i ? ?f a ? l /
"video file" / 'v ? d i ?o ? 'f a ? l /

/a?/ > /?? / is a Canadian thing. It is called raising. Raised from /a/ to /?/. Before a morpheme final l, the raising doesn't occur, as some say.
