Vocabulary

video games

What's the general term for all these machines 'play station', 'X-box', 'nintendo', 'PSP' ...?

Does the word 'platform games' exist in English? What other kind of video games are there?

Thanks in advance. Emotion: smile

But they're younger and perhaps not as sophisticated as the real gamers. (And can you tell we don't have one of those at our house? I'm pretty clueless about it all.)

G², I think I got what Kanonathena is trying to say. I guess that she calls video games those games that you can play on consoles such as PS2, X-Box and Game Cube, while by saying "console" she means the 'thing' that you use to play them/on which you play them. G², I'll be glad to translate whatever she may tell you into "standard" language, if you like.
