Victory poem explanation

Hello trainers,
please explain me the following poem . it is very difficult for me to find the satisfactory answer and there is no one around me who can help me.

The title of the poem is Victory written by Mary Britton Mille
There was ayoung man
Who lived below
A mountaincrowned
with glaciers and snow
''Beautiful mountain!''
He used to say,
'Only clouds
And the eagles know
Their way to the place
I intend to go the lofty peak
You lift so high
I've raved to cli
Before I die''
When he was a man
He attempted it twice-
Bravely he scaled
Those shoulders of snow
And the arms of ice
but for all his courage
The young man failed
In his enterprise
Then the mountain said
In his awful voice
Of glacier and ice
I am here alone
With the eagles and clouds
And for ever alone
I intend to remain.
The young man replied,
I shall try it again.
So he started out
With all the gear
That people wear
When they try to scale
A mountain's crest
And believe it or not
He got to the top
Of Mount Everest

Thanks
