Vocabulary

Via/through

Hello,

Which one is correct via or through aqueduct?
Are drought, aridity, shortage of water good synonyms?

Flood water from river was channelled via/ through aqueducts to transport water to other areas facing seasonal water shortages/ drought/ aridity .

Thank you in advance.

You need an article before "river" either a or the depending upon whether you are speaking of a specific river, or just a river in general. You can use "water shortages" or "drought". I think aridity is awkward, and it usually refers to somewhere that is arid all of the time, not seasonally.
