Very similar to 'fresco' in spelling and had meaning close to 'minor failure'

Hi

Some days ago I stumbled upon the word which was, I think, very similar to 'fresco' in spelling and had meaning close to 'minor failure'. Now I have failed to recall that word. Could you please help me to identify it? Thank you.

Thanks, John.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I had actually misspelled the word 'fiasco' which made my handheld electronic dictionary suggest this word. Does it help?

Maybe chiaroscuro? This is an oil painting technique, but it apparently has been used metaphorically, and also as a literary term, meaning something like sharp contrast. So (pushing the envelope a little) you might concoct a sentence with the meaning you mentioned, like, for example: "Finally the chiaroscuro in our relationship caused it to fall into the pit that always loomed."
