With the change shown above they are grammatically correct; however, we don't use the phrasing "to extinguish a nation", so there's a usage problem even though the grammar is correct.

You probably mean "destroy", not "extinguish".

By the way, don't forget to use punctuation at the end of your sentences.

Perhaps you meant this:

Nations are much harder to conquer now than in olden times.

Extinguish can be used with belief systems or rituals and traditions, but not in the sense of military defeat or conquest.

Very much harder or very much difficult
