Hello,

Yes, I know the difference, but I am not sure which of them are used in negative statements only and which are used in questions.

Hi,

Very broadly speaking, I don't think such restrictions apply. Much will depend on the specific sentence and context.

Hi,

First of all this is what my dictionary says; Many- is used mainly in questions and negative sentences: Do you go to many concerts? I wouldn't argue with 'mainly'.

In statements a lot of or lots of (informal) are much more common.

I forgot to include 'plenty of', a large number of, a great number of, a great deal of, loads of, and a large quantity of.

Could you check these exampes too?

We have plenty of/a large number of/ a great number of/a great deal of/loads of/a large quantity of books.
Do you have plenty of/a large number of/ a great number

Hmmm, 'a great deal of' was wrong in each example. I will be grateful if you explain to me why.

Thanks

"A great deal of" is only used when the object is uncountable. "We have a great deal of rice", or "we have a great deal of time", or "we have a great deal of patience", but never "we have a great deal of books" or "we have a great deal of forks".
