Very difficult and much difficult

Is there a meaning difference between very difficult and much difficult?

I have learned that usually very modifies adjectives but much modifies comparatives. But I feel like there is no meaning difference between them and there is no error in much difficult.

What do you native English speakers think? Thank you so much as usual in advance.
