Verb + verb IS adj, or verb + verb ARE adj

1. Seeing Jason’s progress and being involved in his recovery is rewarding.

2. Seeing Jason’s progress and being involved in his recovery are rewarding.

#1 sounds better to me, but I'm not sure if it is grammatically correct.

Hi, #1 is OK as long as you want to indicate that you see both things as closely related parts of 'one activity'. It's a bit like saying 'Fish and chips is my favourite meal'. Clive
