VERB USAGE (PICK UP & TOSS)

One resident of the trailer park told WFIE of Evansville she saw a tornado pick up a car with members of her family in it and toss the vehicle into a tree.

In the above sentence, Is it valid to use the verbs 'pick up' and 'toss'? Instead, Shall we use 'picked up' and 'tossed'?

Hi, They are used as bare infinitives. I think you'll see that more clearly if you consider a more simple example. She saw a man cross the road.

Thanks, Clive. I get it. Would you please explain the following?

1. Difference between 'She saw a man cross the road.' and 'She saw a man crossed the road'?

Hi,

1. Difference between 'She saw a man cross the road.' This is fine

and 'She saw a man crossed the road'? This is incorrect gramar. Say, perhaps, 'She saw a man who crossed the road'.

2. Do 'She saw a man crossing the road' and 'She saw a man cross the road'

Thanks again, Clive. Please forgive my ignorance. In the second setence--She saw a man cross road, what makes the action as a completed action?

Hi,

She saw a man cross the road. I understand completion from the use of 'Simple Past + infinitive'.
