Verb to be

hello
it confuses me why it is wrong to say:
"he didnt be happy"
but it is right to say " he was not happy "

Except in the command, we don't use 'be' in the present tense or the simple past. By the way, welcome to the forums!

The grammar of the verb "to be" is very different from the grammar of other verbs. For one thing, forms of "to be" don't take "do", "does", or "did" (or their negatives) as auxiliaries, except for the imperative.
