Verb + to

I just have a question. Why is there a need to put 'to' to some verbs while other verbs don't need to?

For example:
- I love her. [No 'to'.]
- I lied to her. [ There's a 'to' . ]

Your answers would highly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
