Verb-predicate agreement

Hello!

I would like to know which of the following sentences is correct or, in case all of them are, which sounds better/more natural to you.

1. My role model is my parents.
2. My role models are my parents.

Also, I am a bit confused with nouns, such as "majority" and "staff". Do they take a plural or a singular verb?

The second sentence sounds more natural. The first sentence doesn't really work because you're dealing with two people. 'Majority' and 'staff' usually take a singular verb.

Thank you both for your answers. Truth is I prefer a singular verb for such nouns, as it sounds more sensible to me..
