Hi, what verb or idiom I should use when I´m describing situation which started humorously but than something happened and it stop to be funny and get serious.
E.g. I was watching my dog playing around the table, but suddenly he spill out the lemonade on the carpet.
So first I laughed but then ...? (like "my smile freeze" or "after that happened I had no reason to smile anymore")
Any suggestion? Thx
