Verb forms

Is this paragraph correct:


" When I was 16, in our first class in the swimming pool, I took a dive, but I wasn't previously aware of how deep the swimming pool was. As a consequence, I hit my face on the bottom of the swiming pool, and my legs bent towards my back. I remember I used to feel pain in my back, and sometimes, I even had to incline forward to relieve the pain."



Note: By 'inclining forward', I mean moving my torso forwards.
