Verb form question

Hi:

I have a question about verb form. in the sentence: "He insisted that she see a doctor immediately." Is the verb "see" a finite verb or nonfinite verb ? Does it have the same grammatical function as "base form"? (He may see you tonight. ) Thank you very much.

Top answer

It's the subjunctive, which uses the bare form. I demand that he leave. She recommened he stay.

Hi,

He insisted that she see a doctor immediately.

The verb is in the subjunctive mood (the simple form of the verb).

Similarly, I demand that he be at the meeting.

No. All subjunctive clauses are classified as finite.
