verb form after the name of a company

HI everybody, which one of these two is using the correct grammar? or both of them ? "Samos" is a name of a company.
1. Samos have been developing cheap electronic devices for 35 years.
2. Samos has been developing cheap electronic devices for 35 years.

Both are correct. #2 is the American English version, and #1, British English.

Right. I found that rather odd when I worked for an British company in Europe, too..
You can take your argument to the British authorities who are in charge of the English language.
