Verb - do

I am a teacher and constantly hear students and colleagues use the verb "do" incorrectly to the way that I was taught.
eg. I am done my work. When you are done working, we can go.

Should "have" be used in these sentences?
Thanks.

I wouldn't say " i am done my work" I would say: I have done my work or I am done with my work. But I heard a lot of people saying i am done my work so I think it sounds natural and can be used. When you are done working is fine took, you probably could add with between done and working.
