Verb consistency?

Hey helpful friends Emotion: smile, here is the first part of an assignment that I am working on. It feels funny because it contains both past and present tense.

The final quotation in the essay November 22, 1963 is ironic in many ways. First, the last quotation is written by European children before the assassination of President Kennedy describing the behavior, appearance and action of a typical American. Thus, we expect it to be stereotypical and false. However, this quotation, at the time it was presented, makes a lot of sense and almost every aspect of it is true. For example, the quotation states, “He eats a lot of breakfast and gets fat…” has the highest consumption rate of food and natural resources in the world. Thus, it is safe to say that is the most obese country in the world.

The bolded words (2x) are the words which seem funny or out of place.

Please enlighten me!

Also if you find any other mistakes, please point them out Emotion: smile

Thanks!

What do you mean when you said "I don't understand what you mean?"

The question is "Why is the last quotation ironic in three ways?" So does that mean sense? The first setence's purpose is to restate the question.

I agree with using was instead of is so that's good. Also I like what you did with the semicolon because it breaks the long sentence up.

I don't understand what you mean in the sentence with all the strange dates...

It's not my fault. Hmmm I was trying to write November 22, 1963 because that's the title of the essay I am responding to.

I think that weird date thing is the result of copying and pasting. Sorry

Then maybe: "... in the essay dated November 22nd, 1963..."

"boulimic" (instead of "obese") might be what you're looking for?

Thank you for all of your replies. The name of the essay is November 22, 1963, not the date, so I can't really modify it in any way.

Boulimic might be the word, I'll try to find more information regarding those words
