Verb choices?

In the following contex, are all verb choices correct?

Once we start to take for granted our freedom, which our ancestors had sacrificed their lives to achieve and had fighted for with all their might, (. ).

1. it starts to be eroded.
2. it starts to be undermined.
3. it starts to be slip away.
4. we start to spoil/ruin it.
