Consider the following sentence:


"Undergoing IVF would mean enduring an involved and arduous series of procedures. It ENTAILED drugs, shots, and surgery."



Would the sentence make sense if was expressed as it follows:


"Undergoing IVF would mean enduring an involved and arduous series of procedures. It ENCOMPASSED drugs, shots, and surgery."

Why have you used Simple Past tense.?

Say "Undergoing IVF would mean enduring an involved and arduous series of procedures. They entail drugs, shots, and surgery."

or

Say "Undergoing IVF would mean enduring an involved and arduous series of procedures entailing drugs, shots, and surgery."

Yes, but 'entail' is a better choice than 'encompass'.

You can also use the verb 'involve' there.
