Verb

Hello,

I have problems of identifying the verb patterns such some verbs take a noun/pronoun and "that clause" / "to infinitive" etc.
However, the same verb takes "that clause" /" to infinitive" without a noun/pronoun.

1. She promised that she would clean the room

2. She promised me that she would clean the room.

What are the differences in both the sentences used with a pronoun and without pronoun?

Thanks.
