hione person don't eat meat. He only eats vegetarian food including eggs. what this person is called? a vegetarian? if he is vegetarian he should not eat eggs also. what do you think?shiva kumar

Vegetarians don't eat meat but they do eat eggs, milk, cheese etc. Vegans, on the other hand, don't eat, wear or otherwise consume anything of animal origin.

He is called Ovo-vegetarian.

Hi there,

The levels are:

Vegan– does not under any circumstances eat anything that comes from an animal.
Ovo-vegetarian– the only food of animal origin that he eats are eggs.
Lacto-vegetarian–the only food of animal origin that he eats are dairy-products.
Ovo-lacto vegetarian–the only food of animal origin that he eats are dairy-products AND eggs.

There is a relatively new category as well, of those who do eat meat but only that of fish: they are the pescetarians. (To be honest, I think it’s ridiculous to call yourself a veggie if you are a meat-eater, no matter what kind of meat that should be, but well, we can be masters when it comes to deceiving ourselves for a better self-image, can't we.)

Oh, and of course all of these can be used as either nouns or adjectives.
