Hello, I am trying to compare "vast/ly" with a few other adjectives/adverbs. Here's how I see it: - She has a tremendous/vast amount of information. - Both of them work ,but I think that vast is not as strong. - My background is completely/vastly different from his. - Vastly means "very different" to me here, and I think that complete is still a little stronger. - The hotel has been vastly/greatly improved. - They both suggest to me that the owners have made significant changes/improvements.
Am I on the right track?
Top answer
I see no real difference, except that vast may be more emphatic because it is a bit less common.
