Various tenses for my writing

Hi,

1. Could you please let me know which verb tenses below are natural?
2. If two or more are possible, how are they different in meaning?
3. Please correct any grammar errors or please improve my writing, if needed. Thanks.

I have an E4EU NOBO panel heater. I was wondering if you could help me with my problem with its TIMER, which seems to suddenly stop working, that I can't make the heater work.

The display is somewhat frozen. I pressed the reset button, and then the display (showed / shows / is showing / was showing) "0:00" on AUTO OFF mode. I tried pressing the TIME button and even tried holding it down for a few seconds, but it didn't make the two dots flashing so that I (can / could) make the OVERRIDE button work to switch on the heater. I had already allowed 24 hours for the battery to fully charge, making sure that the power was switched ON, but this didn't help (too / either).

By the way, the PROGRAM button (works / is working), but I can't go back to TIME mode by pressing the TIME button.
