Variety of opinions

How can I say that something has caused a variety of opinions/views? Or some kind of a confusion?

Lets say that there are two solutions, A and B. But there is still not clear which one is better. And proponents of such solutions (or systems) showcase that what they support is superior.

My sentence is:
"The X factor, is a key difference between the aforementioned systems, and has caused a variety of (obscured?) views."

Does it make sense?

Happy new year everybody!
