variable noun

Hi,
Would the changes of the following words make difference in context? If so, how would they differ?

If make a concession, you let them do something, especially in order to end argument (an argument??) or conflict (a conflict??).

I would feel more comfortable seeing the words 'an argument' or 'a conflict' in sentence where specificity is apparent like below but in a possible definition of the word 'concession'??
