Is the wording of the following sentences acceptable and natural?

Finally, Dave and the chipmunks come to understand their true and real value. The vanity of the "charm" to them is briefly like a cloud. In fact, loyalty, family and friendship are the most treasurable.

They sound acceptable to me.

Some of the wording is unexpected, so you might call it "unnatural" in that sense.
but I'd consider it idiomatic.

The sentence #2, "The vanity of the 'charm' to them is briefly like a cloud" means that high official positions, fame,and wealth are unrealistic. They are as transient and ephemeral as a fleeting cloud. So, is there a better expression of this sentence?
