Hello, I am not a teacher, but I can tell you that [ k ] is - voiceless because there is no vibration of the vocal cords when you utter it - plosive because during its pronounciation, the vocal tract is initially completely blocked and afterwards the air is released suddenly and rather in a burst-like manner, an explosion if you like - whence the name << plosive >>. Because the airstream is stopped when the tract is blocked, this consonant has the term << stop >> as an alternative name, though I, for one, find it a bit confusing since stops aren`t necessarily plosives (the [m] stop for example is not a plosive but rather a nasal instead). -because of the fact that a great air pressure is required to utter this sound, the force of its articulation is bigger , thus making it a fortis sound.
