They are not opposites, but relative synonyms:

valuable [adjective] = has a value [usually monetary] That brooch is very valuable. It is worth £20,000.

Something that is valuable is worth a lot.

Something that is invaluable has a value that cannot be estimated.

A diamond gem stone may be quite valuable, but the diamond ring given by Napolean to Josphine may be invaluable because you cannot put a price on it.

Appropriate means you take something by LEGAL means. I think it also means to allocate funds for something. Misap
