Vacuum filtered off

I'm trying to understand what they wanted to say with vacuum? is it a verb here? Also I don't understand filtered off.. thanks for helping

I let this mixer stir for several minutes. The molecular sieves and the activated charcoal were then vacuum filtered off. And here we are left with a nice colorless solution.
