Vocabulary

utilise?

Hello,
I have a question. Basically what I'm trying to do is rewriting this sentence :' My knowledge was then put into practice by offering xyz services.'
Can I say I utilised my knowledge by offering those services? Or is there any other way of saying it?

Thanks in advance. Emotion: smile

It would be correct to say, "I utilized my knowledge by offering xyz services."

For example, "I utilized my knowledge of mathematics when I completed my taxes."

or "I utilized my knowledge of mathematics by offering accounting services."

Hi Kate,
In my opinion, people use the word utilise (or utilised, utilising) far too often. Can you just say use instead? So, "I used my knowledge of mathematics etc". It sounds far less pretentious that way.

Regards,
David.
