Using When

I don't know why but just this sentence doesn't sound right to me.

I know

"When he comes back, we WILL eat. "

Is correct, but

"When you get to the arrival gate, he WILL be there. "

doesn't sound right to me. In the first one the act will take place after he gets home, but the second one the person who was waiting is already there.

Is the second sentence correct?
