Using when

Hi,

This is my example: For John, the present week seemed better than the previous week when he had faced a lot of trouble.

Would 'when' be right here to connect the two clauses and to convey the meaning that in the previous week, he faced a lot of trouble?

Thank you.

Hi friend, We use when in time, but we use whan to compare between two things. Your sentence is right. You compare between two weeks using whan, and you use when to say what happen in the previous week.
