Using "themselves"

Hi,

Am I using "themselves" correctly in the following sentence?

"No matter what humans believe about themselves, in far distant future nobody will remember who they were. They and their leftovers will be just another fossil from Earth’s past."

Thanks in advance, AL

Yes. "in the far distant future" I'm not certain about the use of "leftovers". Also, "they and their leftovers" (plural) doesn't agree with "fossil" (singular).

The meaning of this is unclear. You should explain it.

GPY"they and their leftovers" (plural) doesn't agree with "fossil" (singular).
Fossil is singular because if I am mistaken "another" cannot be paired with a plural noun.
So, another fossils would be wrong.

Yes, "another fossils" would be wrong, but that does not make the agreement right. You could say, for example:

They and their artefacts will just be more fossils from Earth’s past.

Thanks.
You are right, "artefacts" sounds better than "leftovers"
