Using the word 'per'

Is it correct to say it this way or the other?
  1. Appropriation from the Operating Budget, for an amount not to exceed $192,660 per year, or $96,330 for six months.

Hi, I prefer the latter way, if you correct the typo. If you say the limit per 6 months, do you really need to mention the limit per year? Clive
