Using the past continuous-is this correct?

Hi

I'd like to check if I've used the past continuous correctly in this passage.

The A Team are a trio who met at Oxford University. In 2012, after finishing their studies, they came together to work on their first production- an adaptation of Happy, a novel which was written by John Smith.

Thanks!

The sentences are fine, but there is no past continuous in them. The name of the novel should be italicised., and you can omit 'which was'.
