Using the definite article "the" no times, once and twice

I have made up the sentences below.

(1a) I usually work from afternoon to night.

(1b) I usually work from the afternoon to night.

(2a) There is a lot of garbage in the bathroom and living room.

(2b) There is a lot of garbage in the bathroom and the living room.

I am not using "the" in the first sentence. I am using it once in the next two and twice in the last sentence.

Do you think the sentences are okay or not? Thank you very much.

1b is ok, but most native speakers omit "the". I would normally use 2b, but 2a is fine.
