Using That as Relative Pronouns

Hi everyone,

Which sentence is correct ?

"my problem is that I could not understand you"

"my problem is I could not understand you"

My problem is that I can't understand you. (Note the present tense of the "can't understand" in the complement "that I can't understand you".)

The reason why the first sentence is right is because we do not usually omit the subordinator 'that' from a noun clause when the noun clause is complement to the verb 'be'
