Hello!

Could someone please explain why we use plural for 0 and singular for 1 as in,

He got 0 marks while she got 1 mark

Hi, Could someone please explain why we use plural for 0 and singular for 1 as in, He got 0 marks while she got 1 mark Perhaps because it feels like we are saying 'He got no marks'. But really, your two examples are not natural. More natural is eg He got 0 on the test, while she got 1.
