Using RELATIVE CLAUSE in the sentences

1) The persons who I love

2)The persons that I love


3) Books that will help you.

4)Books which will help you.

What is the difference between sentence 1 and 2? and between sentence 3 and 4?

Persons (as in 1 and 2) may be referenced by 'that', but they are more often referenced by 'who'.

Things (as in 3 and 4) may be referenced by either 'that' or 'which'. 'that' is regarded as less formal than 'w

We normally speak of 'people' rather than 'persons'

Both pairs show no semantic differences, and no syntactic differences other than what follows from "that" not being a pronoun.

Incidentally, I would echo what fivejedjon said: "people" is more natural than "persons" when talking of friends or relatives.
