Using present participles

"I gave individualized attention to meet the specific needs of each trainee, assessing which test component a trainee is most likely to be best at and/, providing them with a comprehensive training program to achieve their goals."

What are the rules for using more than one present participles in a row in a sentence?

Can I simply connect them with "and" instead of comma?
