Using percentages in text of a book

In the text of a book (novel) is it correct to say 90 percent or should it be ninety percent?

If my memory serves me right then I believe you would write "ninety percent". I think I remember my grammar book saying that anything that needs you to use more then 2 words to describe a number then you should just use the number instead. so then you would just write the number.

If my memory serves me right then I believe you would write "ninety percent". Generally avoid writing numbers unless its something like 15326...I think I remember my grammar book saying that anything that needs you to use more then 2 words to describe a number then you should just use the number instead. Like 1000 is only one thousand, but 1502 is one thousand five hundred and two...so then you w
