Using of past perfect progressive.

Hi everyone,
I'm writing a some notes about my friend for my homework, and I think include the following sentence:

- I found that he had also been studying at the same university as I did.

I quite sure, that i had couple of mistakes, could anyone correct my sentence?
Thank you in advance.

Yes, I meant, before him, so it's "I had". Thank you!
