Using "Multiple" in English.

Hi all. I have a sentence which my professor said that it was not correct. The sentence is:

I have finished modifying assembler compiler to run its optimization process multiple (inappropriate) times until there's nothing else to be optimized.

In that sentence, the word "multiple" is considered inappropriate by my professor. I'm confused about that. Could you point out why that word is inappropriate ? If it's inappropriate, what should I do to correct it ?

I see nothing wrong with 'multiple'—it is a common adjective—, but I see other problems: I have finished modifying the assembler compiler to run its optimization process multiple times until there is nothing else to be optimized. Perhaps 'multiple' is just too vague?
