Grammar

using 'much'

Hi,

Is it grammatical to say something like this?

How much was the company’s revenue last year?

I know that I could have said: ‘what was the company’s revenue last year, but I wish to understand whether I can use ‘much’ in such a situation.

Thanks,

MG.

  • "Revenue" is a technical term, and probably wouldn't be used while drinking beer and watching football - unless the fans happened to be into finance.

Hi there. Your sentence is fine. "How much" indicates interest of amount of the money they made.

Thanks, Fandorin. I needed that. (Actually, I've always been the slowest kid on the block.)
