Using "Maybe" and "Perhaps"

Hello,

Can someone tell me when should I use "Maybe" and when "Perhaps"

I think both of them give the same meaning. And if there is not any difference between them, so which of them is formal and which informal?

Thank you.

There is no real difference in meaning. One or the other may be more common in certain expressions and idioms. The main differences concern the position of these words.
